Another terrific story, Harvey, and very well written, as usual. I felt a slight disconnect between the opening and closing, though. There's a suggestion in the opener that what Harlon is writing is important, and might even make a significant difference if he has time to write it down. As a result, I was waiting for some kind of "reveal." But it didn't come--at least to me. Am I missing something? Would appreciate your comment.
Hi Mardy. Sorry for the late response. Got my work on my novel finished a little early for the day, and spent the balance with my youngest son in a trip out of town.
I don't know, but I suspect any 'reveal' was re the psychology (or psyche?) of the POV character. Most often I tell readers they're right with whatever they get out of a story or poem I wrote. The writer only begins a story; the reader finishes it. And so much in the writing and the 'interpretation' depends on the writer's/reader's experiences, baggage, etc.
